Coconino Plateau Water Advisory Council
Announces New Website
December 4, 2007 - Flagstaff, AZ - Northern Arizona citizens now have a new resource for learning more about water, water supplies and water conservation. The Coconino Plateau Water Advisory Council (CPWAC) recently debuted their new website at www.cpwac.org.
The website includes information on current studies, water conservation tips and educational programs. Over the next few months, additional information will be added, including northern Arizona water sources, the differences between surface water and ground water, who “owns” the water, and more.
The CPWAC is a partnership of agencies, organizations and local government entities with jurisdiction over, or interests in, water resources. The website lists all member agencies at www.cpwac.org/members.
The Council was formed to ensure that an adequate long-term supply of water is available to meet current and future reasonable needs, while preserving the health of the environment. Its purpose is to coordinate and cooperate in identification, prioritization and implementation of comprehensive policies, projects and programs to assist in meeting the water needs of the Coconino Plateau.
The Plateau extends from south of the Colorado River to the Mogollon Rim, and includes all of Coconino County.
Currently, the Chairman of the CPWAC is Liz Archuleta, who also serves on the Coconino County Board of Supervisors. The Council Co-Chair is JoLynn Roberson. Archuleta can be reached at Email" href="http://www.coconino.az.gov/contact/form.aspx?id=118">Email and Roberson at Email" href="http://www.coconino.az.gov/contact/form.aspx?id=308">Email.
